Everyone working or studying in the hospitality, leisure, tourism industry and allied fields is welcome to join our network. Starting from Affiliate level, you will progress through different grades of membership in line with your career and professional development. Having the letters GCIHTM, ACIHTM, CFIHTM, FCIHTM, DFCIHTM and CFCIHTM after your name, is professional recognition of your qualifications, work experience and career achievements. As soon as you join, you will be invited to have your grade assessed to gain that status and recognition you deserve.
Affiliate
The grade of Affiliate is assigned initially to everyone when joining the Institute. Affiliate members are normally those studying for a qualification in hospitality, leisure, tourism or allied fields of those new to working in the industry or suppliers within the industry. At this grade you will have access to most of the same benefits as ACIHTM / MCIHTM / FCIHTM members but you do not have any letters after your name and you cannot vote or hold office.
Graduate Member
Graduate category is available to persons having one or more of the approved qualifications but without the necessary practical experience required for associate grade. A graduate-member may not vote in the affairs of the Institute but has other rights and privileges.
A graduate member may use the letter GCIHTM for so long as he/she remains paid-up and active member at chapter/national level
STUDENT
Student-membership is open to all those who at the time of application are studying for an MIHTM qualification or any of the approved qualifications. Student membership may not last for more than three years.
No membership certificate is issued; no designatory letter may be used; no voting right.
Associate (ACIHTM)
Associate membership is for entry level managers working in a post directly concerned with the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries and allied fields. They will typically be recent graduates, or hold another qualification plus some management experience in the industry.
Member (MCIHTM)
Members will have gained appropriate qualifications and training, together with experience in a management or senior management post directly concerned with the hospitality or related industries.
Fellow (FCIHTM)
Fellowship Certified Institute of Hospitality Tourism and Management recognises the importance and expertise of the most senior members of hospitality, leisure and tourism industries and allied fields. Members (MCIHTM) who have been with the Institute for over 5 years are eligible to apply for Fellowship.

The Supervisory Board may, at its discretion, accept three references from those who are not Fellows of the Institute, provided they hold senior management positions in the industry, and have known the applicant for at least three years immediately preceding the application.
